I have LOVED watching the Royals this past week. We have seen some of the most exciting games, EVER.

(in my humble opinion of course)

We were thinking that we couldn’t have a game without going into extra innings.

I am so sad that I do not get to be in Kansas City during all this. It is certainly a fun time to be there. The stadium looked electric last night, even with the rain. Such an amazing atmosphere. And it has been awesome seeing my Facebook newsfeed pretty much being taken over by KC, AND to see them in the “trending” section!

Be Royal friends.

Here are some quick Tom comments concerning the Royals:

This quote happened last night early in the game.

“If we win the series, I am going to shit my pants like George just did.” (He did not crap his pants in case you were wondering, but there were some tears.)

Some night this week, Tom was looking up Royals memorabilia that we could have in our future home when he found Royals themed candy.

“Sweets and Treats? (this was a category on the website) Of course I want the Royals in my mouth.”

Royals

George is passing on his baby magic by sharing his favorite facial expression.

I can’t wait to see what unfolds during the rest of this postseason! So excited for my Boys in Blue!

To Baltimore we go!

Take the Crown!

Party Like It’s 1985

Today something is occurring that hasn’t occurred in 29 years.

My beloved Royals are in the Playoffs.

The Royals have not been to the playoffs since 1985, which is the longest playoff drought in the MLB. Not exactly the greatest title to hold…

When they went the last time, I was 4 months old. So I have never fully experienced a Royals post season. Although I am sure I gurgled and cooed as any loyal fan would.

My dad always says that I was their good luck charm since their 1985 World Series win was the year I was born. Tom was also born that year too. So we are convinced that we produced the miracle child in George to help the Royals once again. Nothing like putting the pressure on our kid from the day he was born. They did win the night he was born just saying…

Baseball is the sport of superstitions. You can thank us later Royals fans for procreating. This little bundle of goodness got us to the post season right?

It has not been easy being a Royals fan over the past 29 years. There have been many ups and downs (unfortunately a lot of downs) over the years.

But we made it, and it is so sweet to be here.

It may be hard to be a Kansas City fan, but we are not fair weather fans. We have believed and hoped for this since we clinched that World Series title in 1985. We have waited patiently…ok maybe not so patiently. But we have still flocked to buy hot dogs and get into the royal spirit to support America’s favorite past time in the 816 area code.

So to all the cynics and other teams who didn’t see us coming, we are going to enjoy today. We are going to #beroyal and #takethecrown how we do.

And who doesn’t love a good underdog story and sporting events that are not predictable? And this season, game to game, was anything but predictable. This season has just been fun to watch! In all honestly though, there were some games that I had to watch through my fingers because it was too intense to see. We were ever hopeful.

Through it all, Kansas City fans have always come out for our boys in blue. (We also come out for our boys in red. During Monday Night Football last night, Kansas City made Arrowhead the loudest stadium in the World! Get it Chiefs!)

Let’s Celebrate Kansas City.

No matter what the end result is today, this has been a fantastic season to witness. I have enjoyed watching/reading through every game. (KY/TN don’t seem to be fans of KC so we haven’t been able to watch every game live.)

One day at a time. Enjoy every win, and move past every loss.

(Rest assured though, I would love a win today.)

George says, “Don’t worry. Party like it’s 1985 Mom.”

I do as the infant says.

So here’s to hoping for the best today! Soak it up while we can! Can we get a Blue October?

I wish I could be in Kansas City today to take part in all the festivities that are going on in my hometown, but we will be watching and cheering anxiously from KY.

We believe! Come on Royals! Take those A’s!

Do you love baseball? Who are you rooting for in the post season?

Buy Me Some Peanuts and Cracker Jacks

Well personally, I want a big hot dog and a soft pretzel when I am at a baseball game, but that’s neither here nor there.

We love baseball in our house, which I am sure you noticed with our pregnancy announcement.

Opening day was today, and we are so pumped to have our beloved Royals back!

941481_10100202542814941_180377433_n

Tom was so pumped to get a camo KC hat!

Unfortunately, being a Royals fan comes with a lot of pain. We lost our first game today to the Tigers.

But never fear, the season is long! And I am sure we will bounce back!

We are not fair weather fans in this house!

I grew up in KC, and my mom’s house was down the street from the stadium. Many weekends we spent in the parking lot riding our bikes and watching fireworks on Fridays.

My brother and I collected baseball cards like it was our job there for a time.

We ate ice cream and applesauce out of our beloved small plastic baseball caps.

You just love the men in blue when you grow up in KC. And luckily I married a man who also loves my Royals, despite where he grew up being mostly Cardinals fans. He knows where the true sportsmanship is!

Our wedding was also unintentionally in Royals colors. Tom’s favorite color is blue and mine is yellow. That is how we picked out our wedding colors, and we soon then realized that we had matched our Royals.

I have had so much fun over the years watching games. The Royals fans and the stadium atmosphere are top notch.

We stand behind our team no matter what.

The games are fairly cheap, and they do a great job entertaining between innings and pitches. It really is a fun time. Plus they have lots of give aways, so generally you are guaranteed some swag when you go. I can’t wait to live closer to take advantage of T-shirt Tuesdays!

I had one of my bachelorette parties at a game. Seriously a fan, and I won’t hold it against my sister-in-law (pictured here) that she roots for the wrong Missouri team.

My best friend and other half with their men, my mom, and my sister-in-law. They were keeping me distracted while Tom was on one of his Army adventures.

This was at an I-Cubs game in Des Moines, but they were playing the Royals farm team. So obviously we came decked out in blue!

One of the fortunate things of my undergrad was that it was close enough to make it to some games with college friends one in awhile.

Match made in heaven with our fandom!

I think this was opening day one year with my Best Friend and Slugger!

My brother and I at a game. See wedding colors?

Tom and I were both born in 1985 when the Royals won the World Series. We were born to be Royals fans. So we are hoping that little birthing luck will be passed down to our Little Guy, and this will be a good year for our boys in blue.

If you were not aware, Lorde’s song “Royals” was inspired by the MLB Royals player George Brett. She saw a picture of him in a Royals t-shirt, and the rest of her fame is history. So it is only appropriate that someone in KC made a parody.

Do you watch baseball? Who is your team? Have you ever experienced a baseball game at the K?

Holiday Stats

Glinn Photography

We just resurfaced in Ft. Campbell after 2 weeks on the road. We don’t even know what to do with ourselves.

Here is a recap on how the past two weeks of our travel went.

Basics

  • 14 days living out of a suitcase (or two)
  • 1 state (Missouri) 2 cities (Kansas City and Jefferson City)
  • 2 Christmas celebrations in JC
  • 3 Christmas celebrations in KC
  • Drove through the town where our undergrad is and revisited old stomping grounds
  • Rang in 2014
  • 4 family birthdays
IMG_0937

We surprised my father-in-law with a 60th birthday party.

The Dogs

  • Crosby got a new nickname of Hammerhead, to go along with his others of Crosbastic and Crosbilicious.
  • Neither dog pooped in the house while we were away. Success.
  • Grace lived up to her name of the Food Ninja by stealing food off the counters.
  • We saw Crosby in the snow for the first time (with us anyway). He is not a fan. Grace however, thinks snow is candy coming from the sky.
  • Crosby demolished a Kong toy in the amount of time it took us to open up Christmas presents.
IMG_0256

The unlucky Kong and Crosby.

For Funs

  • We both got to visit with old friends with typical best friend behavior
    • My two best gal pals and I downed Chili’s molten chocolate cake under a couple minutes. As our families watched in awe (or horror) at three grown women fighting over cake and ice cream.
    • Tom played hours of video games with his bestie.
  • I went to my first Christmas Eve service that I can remember. Our family lit the advent candles for the service.
IMG_0154

My in-laws at Christmas Eve service.

  • Tom managed to work out every day. He scared a lot of people in the gym with his ranger panties.
  • On a date with my sister in law, I revisited the winery where we had our wedding anniversary.
  • I read 2 books and watched one documentary.
  • The Homemade Christmas items seemed to go over well. More to come on all the crafting that occurred gearing up for the gift exchange!
  • I got to officially meet the Climes whose son inspired me to run my last half. They are too sweet, except the boys let me die in a nerf arrow fight.
  • We watched Clemson and Mizzou win their respective bowl games. It is always a good day to be a Tiger!
  • We gave my parents a Royals neon. So awesome!

    IMG_0414

My father-in-law works for Budweiser so sometimes we come across gems like these!
We were so excited to give this to them!

  • Unfortunately, the Chiefs lost by one point in their playoff game. It was a great year for them though!
  • We only got up before 9am one time. Tomorrow’s 5am alarm is going to be brutal.
  • I got my brother hooked on the show Castle.
  • On both the way to Missouri and the way out, we had to stop in the first 30 minutes to search for an open auto parts store in the middle of no where because Tom’s Jeep was acting up.
  • My dad bought our 3 year old niece a drum set. Bahaha! My poor brother.
IMG_0492

Oh grandparents.

  • Tom got a new gun for his birthday.
  • We saw snow, ice, rain, sunshine, and temperatures ranging from 4 degrees to 65 degrees.
  • We told our niece Ava about the Hamburgler, and she went on to talk about the hamburger stealer bad man for the rest of the day. Whoops.
  • The most played song for us was Miley Cyrus “Wrecking Ball.”
  • I took about 1,000 photos, but there are less than 10 that I am actually in. Most of them were the family photos we took.

One of the Christmases with my mom, brother and his daughter

We had a great time at home. And we can’t wait for the days when we don’t have to travel so far to have family time.

I hope you all had a great holiday season. Here’s to making new memories in 2014!
